Let's Go Fly A Kite

As a part of our Memorial Weekend celebrations we picked up a few new items:

The local toy store was going out of business so we snagged some kites and stopped at the beach after picking up Patrick's new bike. We originally meant to spend only an hour but ended up staying the entire afternoon. It was the first real quality time we have spent as a family in a while and it was glorious.

The wind was perfect. All you had to do was stand there and it did the rest. It's the best way to have your first kite flying experience.

Cache decided to clip his kite to his belt. And just enjoy the view:
It was also Malachi's FIRST experience at the beach! We all loved it so much. It was peaceful and fun and just what our family needed.
Our kite flying was really the start of an entire week with Patrick off of work, and now its practically over. It has been so relaxing and wonderful to have him around. We are all dreading monday morning. This week Patrick started to landscape the back yard and I have done some gardening. My tomato's are actually growing! We have had bbqs with friends and the boys went to the Father's and Son's campout. We have had our weekly movie night loaded with the regular pizza, popcorn and crappy movie and we will finish off today with Ronin's baseball game. Once sunday is here you can feel the regular week and work responsibilities pounding at the door but we do technically have one more day with each other. We hope its a good one.

Only two and a half more weeks of school and then our summer will start. We hope to go to Palmyra with family, Rhode Island for a work trip (its so close we get to tag along!) and then Grandma and Grandpa S will come to stay in July. Hopefully we get to see Grandma L in August and then its right back to school in September. I feel like the summer is almost over and we haven't even started yet. We hope to do some reading work with Ronin so he is solid to go to 1st grade and then there will be the pool and free movie day's at the theater, plus popsicles and bike riding. Lots of our friends will be away for large parts of the summer and this is our first experience with adjusting from school to summer so it should be interesting. I hope I can keep the boys busy enough that they don't drive me crazy or disappear into the basement to watch movies all day. With Ronin's energy we should have a bit of stress but also he will be around to entertain Cache which will be a nice change of pace for me. And Malachi will just sit around and watch it all.

You're day seems like it was perfectly beautiful. I love days like that- they are so refreshing and make it seem like I can tackle anything that comes my way. I can't believe how big the boys are getting! Ronin and Cache look all grown up! And Kai is adorable! We sure do miss you.

{And just so you know - I received the package a few days ago - and Kristie, thank you so much!!! I was trying to make you a thank you card - rather than emailing you - and I'm still working on it :) It has given me so much appreciation for your talent! You're truly so talented! Oh, I have a big box of clothes coming your way, too!
