A Valentine Weekend

Our Valentine weekend actually started on Thursday night. Patrick and I went to dinner while a wonderful friend watched the kids. We were out so late that night that we all slept in the next day. Patrick surprised us by taking Friday off so we laid around in our pjs (what's new eh?) all morning. Another surprise came for us with the postman. 2 Valentine packages! Boy, did we get a lot of love!!!

The boys quickly called dibs on opening and couldn't wait to get started. They got Yo-Yos from Noni L.  Ronin has been BEGGING for one! And these cute aprons from Grandma S.
here they are sporting their new gifts. (i could not get cache to stand still, so he looks less than appealing...)
Ronin was SO happy. I now think an easy bake oven is a required purchase... maybe next holiday.
We tried to get a family photo, it turned out as well as all the others. You can definitely see the parent/child similarities. Boy, how embarrassing....

Friday we worked on cleaning out the house and getting Patrick ready for a business trip. Saturday we had some friends come for dinner. We made up some Valentine treats for the kids that were coming. Rice Krispie Cones dolled up in bags, tags and some ribbon.
We played outside, ate some Rachael Ray recipes, and had a wonderful time into the night.
At some point I found Cache who had morphed into a cone eating pirate. He was so content all night that I never saw him or heard from him. He loved playing with all the kids.

Ronin decided he wanted a picture of everyone (i swear this was his idea!) so we snapped this one right before everyone left. Only baby Paige didn't want to get in it. Notice how Cache has adopted a new dad??? He was very happy, as we all were. We really had a wonderful Valentine's Day and I felt a lot of love. In fact, I would dare say it's the best one we have had so far.

That family photo is so hilarious! You guys are so great. And such amazing parents. I love looking at your pictures - it is completely clear how much Ronin and Cache adore you both.

So you're a Rachael Ray fan? I haven't ever tried her recipes before. Do you have a favorite cookbook of hers?

Those rice krispy cones are such a cute idea. I will have to remember that one. And how cute are your boys in aprons! Awesome. Future good husbands who always help out in the kitchen.
