First day of 1st Grade!

Welp, school has officially started (yeah, its been going for a while now) but we did take a few photos. Unfortunately it was also the morning the camera decided to stop using its auto-focus abilities, so we only got 2 photos.

Ronin said he wanted to act like he was walking to school all by himself (when in reality I actually drove him ; )

1st grade is AWESOME! He loves every bit about it. They have dance parties on friday and he walks home from the bus showing off his dance moves. He says he is good at 'skills'. I asked him what kind and he said, "you know, karate skills and other skills." I promise, he just came up with that one on his own.
He is getting really good at math and loves P.E. The first week of school he recounted all the facts about hand sanitizer and germs. He checks out comic books from the library and is obsessed with buying a snack from the lunch lady. 1st grade has brought on 50+ more sight words (uh, the first 50 we are still struggling with), lots of reading responsibilities and an intense writing curriculum. 1st grade made mommy secretly wish we were still only dealing with kindergarten. But time marches on and so does Ronin. And it is most definitely to his own beat. What an amazingly energetic and happy boy he is! Here is to a great year of 1st grade!!
